Repositioning Cruises

A repositioning cruise takes you to places that you usually don’t get a chance to cruise to.

They are usually longer than normal cruises, have more sea days, but tend to be very well priced.

They mainly happen around Spring and Autumn when cruise companies need to chase the Summer sun and move their ships around the world.

One of Carnival’s ships, Carnival Legend, spends seven months of the year sailing from Australian ports. For the rest of the time she sails from US-based ports.

In April and September this year the Legend will reposition and offer guests a stunning trans-Pacific itinerary between Sydney and Honolulu.

You can expect 18 nights of fun and relaxation on the high-seas as you cross the Equator into a different hemisphere.

When the ship crosses the equator be ready to witness a centuries-old maritime tradition. The ship’s horn will sound calling everyone to the Lido Deck. The captain will then perform the ceremony that turns sailors who have never crossed the equator before into “trusty shellbacks”.  It’s messy, involves fish, but is a whole lot of fun.

With port stops in Honolulu, Papeete, Bora Bora, Moorea, Suva, Noumea and Sydney you will see and experience the best of cruising in the Pacific. It is rare to find exotic ports like Bora Bora, Moorea and Papeete – some of the most picture-perfect places in the world – on itineraries. Perhaps it’s not a once in a lifetime opportunity, but it certainly is a twice a year opportunity.

It is five days of straight sailing between Honolulu and French Polynesia, ample time to relax by the pool or join in all the fun-filled on-board activities that Carnival Legend has on offer

If you are not one for lounging by the pool, here is a taste of what you can expect to enjoy on those gloriously long, relaxing sea days.

The spa! Yes, it’s a must do and who wouldn’t want to pamper themselves for an hour or two – or even for the whole day. There are a plethora of treatments on offer at Spa Carnival™: the massage menu features decadent treatments like exotic seaweed detox massages to bamboo, hot stone massages or full body wraps. While you are there why not add on a relaxing signature facial to rejuvenate your skin. They also offer superb manicures and pedicures and popular treatments like teeth whitening or acupuncture.

If your hair is feeling a bit lacklustre from the sea spray, pop across the hall from the spa where you will find the Hair Salon. You can try the popular Brazilian blow dry or pep your confidence with a cut and colour. And if you are a guy who enjoys a bit of pampering there is a special Men’s menu to work your way through.

For those who want to keep active, why not take advantage of the free dance classes on offer. Or, why not hit the impressive gym or take a Pilates or Yoga class*. There’s also a walking/running track on the upper deck and as you can imagine it has the best 360 degree sea views to take in.

Shannan Ponton Workout

You can also sign up for cooking classes, martini mixology classes and towel sculpture classes, to name just a few, or just cosy up with a cappuccino in the lounge and join in the trivia competition.

There is even an art gallery on-board where they host Champagne Auctions. Learn how to play Black Jack or Bridge.  Test you talents in the casino or join a round of Bingo where there are cash prizes up for grabs.

Music lovers are in for a treat with live music every day and evening, whether you are looking for a rock’n’roll band ,  sing-a-long piano , easy listening guitar tunes or karaoke, Carnival has it all.  There are also themed deck parties and a nightclub to dance the night away.

Alchemy Bar

Movie night is a blast too. Pull up a sun lounge on the deck, cosy up with complimentary popcorn and a snuggly blanket and enjoy seeing your favourite actors on the big screen under the stars as you cruise through the night.

Kids too are spoilt with choices – start the day with a giggle and a riddle at the Dr. Seuss Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast with the Cat in the Hat and Friends, where green eggs and ham, moose juice and funky French toast are all the rage.  There is also a fun waterpark with colourful slides, including Green thunder – the steepest and fastest waterslide at sea; or why not try out the mini golf course, ping pong tables, or shoot a few hoops on the basketball court – loads of entertainment to keep the kids occupied for hours!
